If you are going to be doing a lot of serious off-road travelling, I do suggest we fit 14" wheels , this will give you a ground clearance of 300mm to the underside of the axle which is better than most 4x4 vehicles, and the suspension is reinforced

Are these wheels not too small? I see one guy increased to 14 but with low profile. Any advantage in doing this? This size worries me

We did some 6500km in three weeks in the northern parts of Namibia last
month. My trailer did well and even passed the infamous Van Zyls pass in
Northern Kaokoland with flying colors.

Hi Bernard,

First trip completed –pretty good, really enjoyed ourselves. We went to ‘’Kudu Kaya’’ a working farm right at the entrance to the Baviaans Kloof, the last part of the journey beyond Patensie was on some harsh dirt roads, about 45 kms, made worse by the recent floods. Bumps, dips, flooded streams, temp road repairs, great test for the trailer, and believe me we had no problems with her, followed the Jeep with ease!!!!!!!!. We had a few glitches putting the tent up for the first time , all our fault, but the temps were in the late 20’s early 30’s when we started at 1pm, and the metal parts of the frame were extremely hot and not to easy to handle, and we were trying hard not to look like idiots in front of the 2 couples that came with us . We were last to finish but we made it and were extremely comfortable.

Everything worked first time , must admit you seem to have thought of everything we needed ------- but how about a pop-up grandfather clock that pops up out of the headboard!?!?!?!?! Only joking.

I still enjoy my Trail Camper and I recently took it on an overland trip to the Rigtersveld in the far Northern Cape the only modification I made was to fit change the 13 " rims to 14 " and fit Low profile tires , I also fitted another spare wheel under the Wardrobe area
We did some serious Off-road stuff including 4 off-road 4x4 mountain passes and rocky riverbeds , the trailer heldup very well , I am now preparing for our next overland trip to the far Northern part of Namibia including Kaokoland nad Van Zyl's Pass

We have jus arrived back in Eshowe after nearly 3000 km around Lesotho.Where ever we went the Trail Camper drew attention , at Mahai, Golden Gate, Garieo Dam , people came from all over to see it
From our side the trailer is a Gem, if I could make a suggestion , the area under the bed , if it could be enclosed by some means that would increase the security, and if the were beside lamps on the headboard
Other than that the trailer is a winner

I would like to take this oportunity top congratulate you on an exceptional trailer. We went camping in the Baviaansthe past weekend and one of our friends , Ferdi van Staden recently bought one of your Bermac trailers and he arrived about an hour after us and yet he managed to erect his whole camp before we were even finished with our tents. I have had a look at other trailers on the market and given the price, quality, weight and features is surely the best value for money on the market
